How often Should We See Art?

Art should be viewed as much as possible. It should be viewed everyday if possible. And that does not mean art viewed on the internet. Looking at art on the internet is not a complete negative, however the textures, space, colors, form, shapes and other elements can not be fully realized behind a screen. The best way to experience art is in person in a museum or gallery. Seeing art everyday is probably an unrealistic expectation. A more realistic approach would be to see work every week or every other week. Gallery openings should be attended at every opportunity. A benefit from seeing art as much as possible is that one will be able to see what contemporary artists are creating. We will be able to see type of work galleries are acquiring and displaying. Seeing art in galleries as much as possible would also allow interaction with other artists and learn how contemporary artists are thinking. A dialogue with other artists can be created. The questions these artists are asking and answers they provide in their work be can be learned directly from the artist. An opportunity to develop working relationships with other artists and get feedback on my own work is another possibility. Looking at artwork in museum and gallery settings provides opportunities to see how collectors and enthusiasts are viewing art. One would be able to learn the type of work museums and galleries are marketing to clients and advertising to the public. This will allow for me to make adjustments to my own work, incorporate new ideas from other artists, and more importantly evaluate what I've created and whether it is successful. The feedback will allow me to grow as an artist and push my work to a level that it has not been to before.
