An artist that was first discounted then appreciated

Describe an artist whose work you discounted then later loved.this is a difficult topic to approach. It's difficult to think of an artist whose work I discounted then later appreciated. An artist that could be considered is Ted Harrison. Harrison is a British born Canadian artist. His work is brightly colored organic shapes of Yukon landscapes. Colors are bright and absent of blending or value changes. His work creates depth using overlapping of shapes. Figures are flat and lined with thick bold lines. Initial viewing of his work provides simplified landscapes. Red, violet, yellow and blue are recurring colors in Harrison's scenes. His approach to capturing the landscapes of the Yukon is abstract. Textures are not created in more traditional manners. His work first appears flat and uninteresting. Over time after looking at Harrison's work, his colors and style become hypnotic. It becomes difficult to look away from his work. His work is colorful and bright with a child like innocence to them. Harrison ignores the rules of composition and places subjects in the center off the drawing space. He divides the sky into horizontal organic shapes of blues and violets. His work does not adhere to rules of perspective regarding vanishing point but builds through overlapping. His work captures the daily life of residents in the Yukon area. Initially the simplicity of his work was not impressive until I began observing his work as a whole and experienced the breathtaking emotions created by his work.
